BARBARA 3.1.0: HIGH AVAILABILITY PLATRFORM HAS LANDED
11 September, 2025Barbara is an edge-AI platform designed for industrial companies. It lets you deploy, orchestrate, and manage AI applications and models directly on edge devices (not in the cloud), in remote or distributed environments.
The release
v3.1.0 brings several important enhancements, the centerpiece being
High Availability (HA) support.
This adds cloud-grade resilience, uptime and fault tolerance to edge computing setups. Key features include:
- Cluster Creation: grouping multiple edge nodes into HA clusters so that services continue running even if one node fails.
- Persistent Volumes: ensures critical data survives reboots or fails over.
- Virtual IPs (VIPs): floating/virtual IP addresses that automatically switch to healthy nodes to maintain service continuity.
- Swarm Overlay Networks: secure, scalable container-networking between nodes.
- Smart Node Configuration: using labels and network filters to define node roles and traffic rules.
- Zero-Downtime Upgrades: nodes can be drained during firmware updates so that services remain available.
- Global Configuration Sync: cluster-level configuration changes are automatically propagated to all member nodes.
Beyond HA, there are further improvements as:
- A redesigned Organization View: gives clearer visibility into license usage (type, duration, packages) and usage versus limits (number of edge nodes, users, workloads).
- Real-time team collaboration indicators: when viewing a node, you can see who else in your organization is working there, to avoid conflicting changes.
- Security improvements and bug fixes, plus performance optimizations.
